Embrace Fun:
It's day one and you are already about to tune out. Embrace FUN? Did I really say FUN? I mean, let's be real. We are BUSY people. We have jobs. We have housework. Add in families, appointments, daily commitments and caring for everyone around us -- who has time for FUN? Am I seriously suggesting that you find time to add PLAY-TIME into your life? Are we in kindergarten?? Listen--- before you tune me out -- play time is NOT something that should be a low priority. Yet, we often overlook it. We view it as unnessary. Something to feel guilty about.. In the hustle and bustle of life, the things that make us happy are drowned out by all the clutter, noise, and daily demands that close in on us. But it isn't just about fun and games. It's about our mental, physical and emotional health. And it's crucial. Don't believe me? Just listen.

Tune-In to Your Body
Our bodies are constantly talking to us. But how much time do we take to be still and LISTEN to what our bodies are telling us? For me, I spent YEARS kidding myself that I was taking care of me. After all, I ate a healthy diet, drank plenty of water, used a fabulous superfoods shake every day, and worked out like a fiend.
And then my body betrayed me. Or did it? When I took the time to really LISTEN, I realized that I was the one who betrayed my body. It had been trying to get my attention for years. And when I finally got still, listened, and took the time to take action, healing began. Tune in to your body. It's talking to you.

Redefine Your Mindset
Our mindset is the window through which we view the world, our circumstances, our lives. Imagine looking outside every day through a window that is caked with dirt. Even if the skies are blue and the sun is shining brightly, that dirty window is going to make everything look dreary, dingy and dim. But take the time to clean the window, and then the entire view changes.
Think about flying. It can be a dreary day with rain falling on the ground. But as soon as the airplane breaks through the clouds, the blue skies and sunshine appear.
In both examples, the sunshine and blue skies were always there. We just had to clear the lens and break through the clouds. How do you change your mindset? With intention and persistence.

Defining & Respecting Your Boundaries
Are you a people pleaser? Afraid to say "no"? Do you allow people to walk all over you? Do you feel used and abused? I don't know about you, but all of those situations defined me for years-- until I realized the importance of setting personal boundaries and not allowing others to treat me with disrespect. No is a complete sentence. And I wasn't willing to be treated with disrespect any longer.
Without boundaries, we are allowing others to determine and define our thoughts, feelings, and needs. I say it's time to take that responsibility on ourselves and set our own personal boundaries. Wouldn't you agree?

A message from Martha Cuomo:
If you are a survivor of domestic violence, you are braver and stronger than you may realize. You have made many decisions to try and keep you and your children safe. The average woman leaves 7 times before she escapes an abusive relationship. Each time she learns something new and adds to her list of resources. I encourage you to seek help: National Domestic Violence hotline: 1-800-799-7233 Susquehanna County Women’s Resource Center: 1-800-257-5765 My prayer is that one day you will know peace. And when you look in the mirror, you will see the beautiful, courageous, creative woman you’ve become. God bless you! |
